Welcome to With Woman NYC!
During 2005 Michel Odent, the French Obstetrician, came to NYC to speak to a group of childbearing professionals. Amongst the things he spoke about that fall evening, was his desire to call doulas by a name that immediately described what we do. His thought was, "With Woman". As a Birth and Postpartum Doula (DONA International), DONA-Approved Doula Trainer, and Certified Childbirth Educator (CEA/MNY) I connected deeply with this thought. My role, regardless of whether it is through childbirth education or doula work, is to figure out how to develop a strong connection with my client and the loved ones around her. This connection is based on me believing in and nurturing her as she walks through the rite of passage of motherhood.
